windows live messenger no contacts vista

Hi,
Installed Vista, so far so good. Just tried to install Windows Live Messenger beta, which has gone on fine. I can't, however, sign in properly. It will allow me to sign in, but informs me that I have no contacts and that due to a connection issue, I can't make changes to my status.
Any ideas?

It is probably not a Vista issue. I had been running the beta version of Windows Live Messenger and not I am running the final version. It runs fine on my computer running Vista Beta 2.
